Twitter (Instagram's Version)

POV: You opened Instagram on July 5th being more confused than you ever have in your life. WHAT is Threads? WHO is Threads? WHY is Threads? (Marvel fans get the reference) And how did it get all over my social media feed?

Well, Threads is a brand-new social media platform created by Instagram. It’s only a week old and already has over 100 million users!

Upon first glance, it’s very clear to see that the platform is comparable to Twitter. The posts are text based and the features are very similar. The key difference- it’s linked to Instagram.

Bear with me while I try to explain.

When you go in to set up your very first Threads account, you will sign in with your Instagram! Your account name, bio, and profile links all merge over to Threads when you set up the account. What does NOT get merged over are your posts and followers. However, when you set up the account, Threads will ask if you would like to follow the same people that you follow on Instagram. This means your Instagram and Threads followers are very likely to be similar.

Still confused? Just make an account.

I promise it’s way simpler than it sounds. I would especially recommend joining now if you are easily overwhelmed by learning new social media platforms. Figure out the basics before they begin to add in new features!

If you have an account, you’re probably wondering what to post.

Anything!

Threads doesn't have an established culture yet, and we're all figuring it out together. Remember, it's only been a week since its launch. Go ahead and post whatever you like and have fun with it!

Should your company join?

Absolutely! It's understandable to have reservations about embracing new social platforms. After all, no one knows if they will be worthwhile or gain traction. But I am here to tell you that it will! Threads is still very young, but already a huge success. Big corporations such as Disney, Netflix, and Amazon have already made the switch.

What are you waiting for? Go Thread!

P.S. Please tell me someone got the Taylor Swift reference in the title...
